Brandon Stone wins maiden European Tour title
On Sunday, Brandon Stone made world history by becoming the youngest golf player to ever win the South African Open for his maiden euro tour on Saturday since the launching of the tour on 1997 that took place at Glendower golf club.
No doubt the 22 year old player gave his best in the match that ended up with six bogeys and seven birdies of 71 rounds, defeating his home player Christian Bezuidenhout in an incredible two shot win that made the young player emerge the top.
He broke down in tears after his victory andspoke to Sky Sports: “I don’t have the vocab to describe how I feel right now.
“That round was the most up-and-down round that I’ve ever had in my life.
“Walking up to the 18th made me think about how the last few years have been up and down and up and down and just to pull it through at the end there, I can’t describe it.”
The match started well as Daniel brooks and Brandon Stone tied in the first 3 rounds and due to bad weather, the match was later postponed to the following day. But later, Brooks couldn’t keep up with Bezuidenhout and having nine holes to play , he only gave a two shot lead which made him finish 14 under par with a 71 taking the third place and Bezuidenhout taking over and becoming the second with a 5-under 67 on Sunday.
Brandon Grace, Retief Goosen, Keith Horne, Justin Walters tied the forth place on 9 under.
