West Indies win World T20 final as Carlos Brathwaite sinks England
It was an evening well-cherished by all cricket fans and if you love cricket, the final match of World Cup T20, 2016 has made you to witness history, indeed! After stealing the show from India in the semis, West Indies met England in the finals. The Englishmen put up a decent score of 155-9 for West Indies to chase in the all-pressure packed finals at the Eden Gardens.
West Indies had a very wobbly start with their dependable Gayle retiring to the dress room very soon and the score board reflected a shocking 11-3, which made anyone to guess that England is slowly cruising to be the world champion. However, with wickets going at regular intervals, West Indies ensured one positive thing and kept the scoreboard ticking, but was never in a convincing position to win.
Ben Stokes, the England bowler who had been real good bowing the death overs was whooshed away as the mighty right-hander, Carlos Brathwaite, hit four sixes off Stokes’s first four balls in the final over! With 19 runs required in the last over, Brathwaite made it look like a cheese walk and made West Indies bag a much-deserved awesome win in the finals! It was Samuels’s 85, a wonderful knock, which acted as the cementing factor and paved the way for Brathwaite to take charge and seal the dramatic victory for West Indies in the last over.
Wow . . . congrats West Indies, it’s well deserved!
