Caster Semenya won the 800m at the Diamond League in Morocco
Caster Semenya’s trip to Rio is promising to be a good one following on her impressive win in the 800m at the Diamond League meeting in Rabat, Morocco.
The South African runner was in top form and even though challenged by a strong field and other competitors she encountered, coasted ahead to win, breaking the record she had set in Doha. Her main contenders were Francine Niyonraba the indoor champion and Eunice Sum the former outdoor champion.
The stage is now set for what could be a triumphant Olympics in Rio for the runner. Caster can justifiably be proud of her Rabat victory. She maintains that defeating a strong field has given her the confidence she needs facing into the upcoming Olympic games.
Can she add a victory in Rio to her Rabat achievement? Adding her Moroccan victory to the silver medal she collected in London, Rio awaits.
