Gareth Cliff leaves Idols SA after 11 Seasons
Gareth Cliff is saying goodbye to Idols SA, after 11 seasons with the show. It was through his Facebook page that he made the announcement on Monday, which came as a shock for a lot of people.
“It’s time! After eleven seasons of Idols, it’s time for me to say goodbye. What better way to bring this chapter to a close than a trip to New York and meeting American Idols judge Harry Connick Jr and being on his post-Idols show – ‘Harry,'” Gareth wrote on his Facebook.
Everyone is obviously wondering what he will be doing next, and he wouldn’t say, only that we should watch the space.
Earlier this year in January, he got fired from SA Idols, after he got entangled in the Penny Sparrow debate and made what was regarded as racist comments on Twitter.
He didn’t take it lying down though, and sued MNet for firing him for what he believed was freedom of speech. The judge ruled in his favour, forcing MNet to reinstate him immediately.
