Fans of Isidingo, the award winning popular soapie on SABC 3 will soon have to say goodbye to their favorite gangster Papa G. Georgie Zamdela will be saying goodbye to the soapie, after years of being on the show.
Sunday Sun reports that Darlington Michaels, will be saying goodbye to his character because he feels unappreciated.
“Ek is finished and klaar met daardie mense (I’m done with those people). I had a big problem with them both, financially and emotionally,” he told the Sunday Sun.
“When I was hit by a stroke (in 2013), I didn’t get enough support from them financially. I had to pay my own medical bills which amounted to more than R20 000. My loyalty wasn’t appreciated,” he added.
He says he has loved being on the show and that he has had a great time, and added that the last 3 years have been hard. This is due to him having gone from main actor to only call actor.
The heavies on the show still have love for Papa G though, and they have indicated that he will always be part of the Isidingo family.
“Georgie will always be part of our world. He is not leaving the show. He is Palesa’s father and the king of the underworld and could make a return at any point to ruffle feathers and cause trouble.”
Papa G will surely be missed.
