Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung supports Steve Komphela
Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung has come out to show his support of the club’s tactician, Steve Komphela. The Chairman said he did not regret signing the coach to replace Stuart Baxter. Komphela is facing criticism from fans after the club posted a string of disappointing results under his watch.
Many fans observe that Ace Khuse and Doctor Khumalo who led the club in the interim after Vladimir Vermezoic was sacked performed better than Komphela.
Motaung was speaking at the “Stop Rhino Poaching” campaign held at the Melrose Arch on Monday. He added that fans should not judge the coach now but rather wait until after next season when he (Komphela) has had more time with the team. He also said it was wrong for the fans to compare the coach with Baxter since he has not had the luxury of having new players to work with, as was the case when Baxter was hired.
The boss also said they will replenish the squad next season by bringing in more players as the current squad is overly aging. He however added that fans should not expect a “wholesale” of changes as was the case when Baxter was hired.
