Legendary singer Ricardo Groenewald has sadly passed away on Wednesday night. He was 43 years old!
Ricardo had a long battle with cancer, and he died just days after a special benefit concert was held for him.
He was admitted to Tygerberg Hospital on Tuesday, and he had been getting treatment at the hospital for two months.
Ricardo burst into the music scene at the tender age of 8, where Mzansi fell in love with him. His song “I Love You Daddy” was a massive hit, and it made him a household name. He even performed with Stevie Wonder back in 1989 for the Children Of The World Tour.
Just on Sunday, Ricardo had his last public appearance at the His Grace Performing Arts Centre in Parow. He was in a wheelchair, and it must have been a really special moment when his son performed his hit song “I Love You Daddy”.
Ricardo leaves behind his wife Helen and their three children. Prayers, strength and to his family.
His legacy will be remembered always . . . who can forget that beautiful voice!
