Rio Olympics 2016: Pearson back on the starting blocks at last

Rio Olympics 2016- Pearson back on the starting blocks at last

Australia’s golden girl Sally Pearson looks set to put the smile back on her countrymen’s faces as she sets up her comeback to active competition in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

After suffering a horrifying compound fracture in her left hand while crashing down in June of last year’s Rome Diamond League meet, the intrepid 100-meter hurdles star is determined to fulfill her ambition of making history by accomplishing the hitherto unattained feat of earning back to back gold medals in the Female’s 100 meters Olympic hurdles event.

This will be no mean feat, especially when one considers the levels of competition she’ll be going up against come August when the 2016 Olympics are scheduled to kick off in Brazil.

Jamaican Danielle Williams, who upstaged strongly favored competition from the United States to take gold in Beijing with a time of 12.5 seconds, still fell short of Pearson’s London Olympic times but will be the one to beat come summer.
