This morning South Africa awoke to the terrible news of Lulu Dikana’s passing. She died in hospital last night after a short illness, it’s reported!
Lulu Dikana, Zonke Dikana’s sister, was a soulful singer, and she was on the verge of starting to promote her new album I Came To Love. It was reported that she was forced to cancel a performance in Braamfontein at Skyroomlive, after she fell sick and had to be hospitalised.
“It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected and tragic loss of soul songstress Lulu Dikana who passed away last night [Wednesday] after a short illness while being treated in hospital,” Sound African recordings said in a statement on behalf of her family.
“Our deepest condolences go out to her family, friends and all her fans who came to know and love her through her music.”
The details of what she died from have not been released to the public. In a previous interview, we learned that she suffered from oesophageal perforation which is caused by a hole in the oesophagus.
Lulu will be remembered for the music she made, she was a great musician and her contribution cannot be overlooked.
We truly just send our condolences to her family . . . especially to Zonke. It’s a terrible loss, and we wish them comfort and strength at this terrible tragic time.
