Thabiso Mchunu beats Boniface Kabore in 2 rounds
South Africa’s Thabiso Mchunu humbled Burkina Faso’s Boniface Kabore when he won the match in just 2 rounds. The match, which was described as a mismatch by some observers, was played at the Durban-based Olive Convention center.
Mchunu, who is 28 years old and hails from Pietermaritzburg, electrified his fans when he dominated most of the game from the very onset and managed to nip Boniface’s ambitions in the bud before the second half round ended.
This was Boniface’s first fight outside Burkina Faso and according to Boxrec, he has an 18-4: 10 record since his July 2004 pro debut. He clinched the until then vacant WBA Pan African light heavyweight title in December 2009 after defeating Jevgenjis Amousso on points. The little known Ammoussou had a record of 4 wins against 28 losses.
Mchunu, who has a record of 17-2; 11, has recently used his Southpaw stance to gain traction against Lerena Kevin at the Sean Smith gym in Johannesburg. He is now eyeing world honours.
